What is Image Format Converter?

Different image formats serve different purposes. PNG is lossless and preserves transparency, making it ideal for logos and UI elements. JPG uses lossy compression optimised for photographs. WebP offers the best of both worlds — supporting transparency, animation, and excellent compression for photos and graphics alike.

Converting between formats is often necessary when a CMS requires a specific type, when you need to strip transparency for email use, or when migrating to modern formats like WebP to improve site performance.

This converter runs entirely in your browser. No files are sent to any server. You can convert up to 20 images at once and download them individually.

How to use

1
Upload your images
Drag and drop or browse to select PNG, JPG, GIF, or WebP files. Up to 20 at a time.

Frequently asked questions

QWill converting to JPG remove my image's transparency?

Yes. JPG does not support transparency. Transparent areas will be filled with white. Use PNG or WebP if you need to preserve transparency.

QIs WebP widely supported now?

Yes — as of 2024, WebP is supported by all major browsers including Chrome, Firefox, Safari (v14+), and Edge. It is safe to use for modern web projects.

QCan I convert a GIF to WebP?

This tool converts the first frame only. Animated GIF to animated WebP conversion requires server-side processing.

QHow much smaller will WebP be compared to JPG?

WebP is typically 25–35% smaller than JPG at equivalent visual quality, and 26% smaller than PNG.
